![]() A NOTE FROM THE TEACHER!
A BRAND NEW YEAR!
Here we go again! The start of a brand new school year brings many different feelings for both the students and their parents. Starting 7th grade is a pivotal time in a child's life and I take that responsibility very seriously. I am here to support both you and your child. This is a year for immense growth and emotional development for any adolescent, and there will be many opportunities to practice making decisions and accepting responsibilities as the students transcend into young adults.
We will start our year with many assignments and projects that the students will have to finish in a specific time frame. I want to stress how important it is for you to give your child support and encouragement when they have a long-term project or a test to study for. While you keep up the support, it is crucial that you start gradually releasing the bulk of the responsibility of managing their time and doing their assignments to your child. You can always take a moment to check that they are still on track and ask relevant questions related to what you see on this website, but continue to offer that parental support from a distance with a watchful eye.
The first month of school will bring several new skills and strategies that the students will practice both at school and at home. I will post most assignements in the form of a pdf for the students to open and print at home, or just look at on the computer as they do the assignment on their own paper. You can ask them to show you their work, but also ask them to explain it to you and then pose questions to check for understanding and knowledge of the material.
I am so excited to be your child's teacher and look forward to all the experiences we will have together in room 728 this year. Please visit this site often to know what is happening in reading and what we are working on. Email with your questions, as that is the quickest way to get in contact with me (MJT269@interact.ccsd.net). I hope you can stop in and say hi, and please let me know if there is anything you or your child needs.
Sincerely, Mrs. Teemant |
